According to legend, leaves from the original tree from which this cultivar comes, brought the Emperor back from an extreme illness – to show his gratitude for the tree, he requested a big red robe (da hong pao in Chinese) be hung on its branches, a very high honor. Since the times of the legend, this rock oolong is considered a rare treasure, with a complex fruity and floral liquor that tastes of lilies, orange marmalade, and whole grain toast.
Infusion:For an 8 oz serving, steep 2 heaping teaspoons of leaf in 195F water for 1-3 minutes. Enjoy!
