rich – yellow fruit – noble wood

Grown at 2,000 m and picked from three family gardens in Lincang, Yunnan, this Chinese Puer is fully hand-made and stone-pressed.

The 2016 Yiwu Gushu Limited is a classic sheng Puer with a rich, dense mouthfeel and soft texture. On the palate it shows spicy-woody notes accompanied by the typical Yiwu sweetness, balancing the tips and creating a harmonious experience. From infusion to infusion, the tea gradually unfolds complex flavors of ripe yellow fruit and fine wood, with a lingering finish that reveals hints of honey and gentle spice.

This tea is carefully produced from ancient, wild Gushu trees, many 300500 years old, grown ecologically in family gardens. Harvesting is done by hand, with pickers climbing the trees to select the finest leaves. The leaves are wok-fired over wood flame, kneaded by hand, sun-dried, lightly steamed, and finally stone-pressed into cakes. The cakes are wrapped in hand-made paper, preserving a centuries-old tradition that few artisans still master today.

We are proud to offer this tea in collaboration with Olivier Schneider, a French tea expert with over 20 years of experience studying Puer taste, processing, and culture. After a decade in Yunnan, he now lives in Thailand, cultivating a centuries-old tea garden and continuing to explore and experiment with teas, sharing his expertise through teaching and writing. His work is always rooted in deep respect for traditional methods, terroir, and tea culture.

Brewing
For best results, use a gaiwan or small teapot. Break off around 6 g per 150 ml water at 9095 C. Steep 1020 seconds for the first infusion, then gradually increase the steeping time for later infusions. Many infusions are possible; at least eight are recommended to fully experience the evolving flavors.
