Light and mild, with notes of rice and barley, a hint of minerality, and a clean finish.

How To Brew Genmaicha

Use 1 level teaspoon per 6 oz. water. Heat water until briskly steaming (not boiling). Steep for 1 to 2 minutes. For best taste, do not over steep.

We recommend preparing Genmaicha using a teapot, tea infuser, or tea filter. These brewing methods give the tea leaves enough room to expand as the tea steeps, resulting in a richer, more flavorful cup.

More About Genmaicha

Genmaicha means brown rice tea in Japanese. It is said that the blend was created as a way for tea-drinkers in Japan to stretch their tea supply by blending it with the more plentiful rice kernels. Genmaicha has a light, green-gold color and a slightly grain-like flavor. If youve ever had rice krispies cereal, youll be able to recognize something of the flavor and aroma of puffed rice in this tea. When blended with Sencha and Bancha, the toasted rice makes for a uniquely warming, satisfying tea thats great on a cool afternoon.

Our Genmaicha is sourced from Shizuoka, Japan. The tea has a nutty, slightly sweet flavor, and is very warming and satisfying. Low in caffeine, this tea can be enjoyed either in the morning or the afternoon.
