Anji is a region richly steeped in lore and tea culture. Recent climatic changes have hurt harvests of its beloved ambassador, Anji Baicha, but producers are adjustingin harvesting windows, cultivar selection, and processes. This early spring “Golden Leaf” by Anji native Mr. Wu touts an uncharacteristic, yet lovely curl-style roll (as opposed to the needle shape of Baicha). As is typical of the region the Golden Leaf melds soft sugar snap pea taste with underlying amino acids for lush mouthfeel, adding a crisp, peppery and fresh aroma.
